Nothing Less Than NOTHING… The struggle to grasp the meaning of nothing has persisted for ages: Nothing lasts forever; nothing ventured, nothing gained; nothing is nothing less than nothing and nothing multiplied by a million is nothing. Ninety percent of the universe is made up of dark matter, which is nothing; a nothing that can only be proved by its gravitational influence on its environment. However, it was not the zero of mathematicians and logicians that inspired Veronika Drahotová’s exhibition Theory of Nothing, but rather the zero of ancient Indian philosophers, since they were the first to come up with the idea that nothing is something. What Greek logicians found unacceptable was grist to the mill of artists who have been reshaping the celebrated nothing into various playthings while camouflaging it by lively imagination until today. From nothing to eternity by means of Photoshop; even a stone can levitate and a yard can burn; it all depends only on the limits and temperament of your imagination. A rubber tonfa is safely anchored in a stone base from the Devil’s Stairs Quarry and most likely it will soon fly next door through the black hole, so take it easy. Veronika never leaves her icons; that is why the medium of the photograph has not changed the level of meaning by means of which she has continually found expression in painting. Good for the flames; this time it was Pythagoras of Samos who got the short end of the stick. R.Bakeš Z ničeho NIC… Nikdo nic nikdy nesmí míti za definitivní, stokrát nic umořilo osla, některé věci se dějí z ničeho nic a nickrát milion je nic. Nic je fascinující a zápas o jeho uchopení trvá celé věky. Vesmír je z 90% procent temná hmota, která je nic, nic prokazatelné pouze svým gravitačním vlivem na své okolí. Nula matematiků a logiků ale inspirací pro výstavu Veroniky Drahotové Theory of Nothing nejspíš nebyla, byla jí zřejmě nula dávných indických filosofů protože hlavně tam se můžeme poprvé setkat s myšlenkou že nic je něco. To co přišlo řeckým logikům nepřípustné bylo vždy vodou na mlýn umělcům kteří to slavné nic dodnes přetavují v různé hříčky, maskují kamufláží bujné představivosti. Od ničeho k nekonečnu pomocí photoshopu, i kámen může levitovat a dvorek hořet, vše závisí pouze na hranici a temperamentu vaší imaginace. Gumová tonfa je bezpečně ukotvena v kameném soklu z Čertovývh schodů a za chvíli nejspíš sama odletí černou dírou k sousedům, takže v klidu. Veronika nikdy neopouští svoje ikony, proto ani medium fotografie nezměnilo významovou rovinu jejíž pomocí se kontinuálně vyjadřuje v malbě. Plameny se maj a Černého Petra si tentokrát výtáhl Pythagoras ze Samu. R.Bakeš
